Plans revealed for first phase of Leeds' Eastgate Quarters development

Six restaurants and additional leisure space have been included among plans for the £110m first phase of Eastgate Quarters, a new retail-led development proposed in Leeds.
Acme are behind the design of the Harewood phase of the scheme, with detailed plans set to be submitted by developer Hammerson in early 2013. Work is due to start in summer 2014.
Once complete, it is expected that Eastgate Quarters will offer 99,000sq m (1.1 million sq ft) of retail and leisure space. The first phase is scheduled to open in late 2016.
Leeds City Council leader Keith Wakefield said: "Eastgate Quarters will enable our retail sector to compete with other British cities and attract international visitors and investors."
