Plans for new Shangri-La Maldives revealed
Further details have been revealed by Shangri-La Hotels and Resorts about its next CHI, The Spa, which will open on Villingili Island on Addu Atoll in the Maldives in late 2008.
The Shangri-La Villingili Resort will boast a 179,757sq ft (16,700sq m) CHI, The Spa facility, which will be designed to resemble a small village.
Located within the resort on the highest geographical point of the island, the spa will have 11 treatment villas, including one villa for ayurvedic treatments and a yoga studio and deck on the shoreline, overlooking the Indian Ocean.
Treatments have been inspired by Chinese and Himalayan healing traditions and will include signature therapies such as the CHI Balance massage.
The Shangri-La spa academy in Manila will co-ordinate and participate in the recruitment of therapists for Villingili from countries across Asia including Nepal, the Philippines and Myanmar.
Shangri-La’s CHI spa brand was launched in 2004 at the Shangri-La Hotel in Bangkok, Thailand. There are currently 13 CHI spas open, with more sites planned in Vancouver, Canada and Tokyo, Japan. Details: shangri-la.com
