Peterborough all-weather plans put on hold
Plans for the construction of a £400,000 all-weather sports pitch at the Orton Longueville School campus in Peterborough have been put on hold.
A further technical study will now be carried out after the proposals were withdrawn by Peterborough City Council (PCC) due to issues surrounding a bat habitat. The additional investigation means that a planning application will not be ready in time to be considered by the council's planning and environment protection committee on 27 July.
Initial plans had provided evidence that outlined the need to avoid nearby archaeological remains located on the campus and to meet Sport England's requirements to protect existing sports facilities. A PCC spokesperson said: "A further technical investigation focusing on the habitat for bats is now required and will not be ready in time for a scheduled meeting of Peterborough City Council's planning and environmental protection committee on Tuesday 27 July."
