Olympic Park legacy revamp firms sought

The ODA is seeking contractors to overhaul the parklands for legacy use
The Olympic Delivery Authority (ODA) has launched a search for contractors to deliver the transformation of London's Olympic Park following the 2012 Games.
Among the schemes to be carried out is the completion of the 250-acre (101-hectare) legacy parklands, which will create one of Europe's largest urban parks. The ODA's search will see two opportunities offered to interested parties - one in the north of the Olympic Park and the other in the south.
Other work to be carried out includes the delivery of legacy cycling facilities in the Velopark; the creation of allotments; new football fields; and the removal of temporary infrastructure. The ODA is also seeking contractors to carry out the conversion of Games-time venues into their legacy use, including works to the Handball Arena and the Velodrome.
Once the legacy transformation is completed by the ODA, the Olympic Park will be handed over to the Olympic Park Legacy Company and Lee Valley Regional Park Authority. ODA director of design and regeneration Alison Nimmo said: "Legacy was at the heart of the London 2012 bid and 75p of every £1 spent cleaning-up what was a former industrial area and creating the Olympic Park is an investment in the regeneration of east London.
"The venues, sports facilities, parklands, allotments, roads, bridges, footpaths, cyclepaths, energy and utilities networks will form the foundation of the long-term development of this part of London for future generations." Image: ODA/Anthony Charlton
