Next phase of Sussex CCC scheme to start
Sussex County Cricket Club (SCCC) has revealed that construction work is due to start on the next phase of an £8m overhaul of its County Ground home in Hove.
A 1,700-seat stand to replace terraced seating in the south west corner of the venue is at the heart of plans for the next stage of the scheme, as well as a new south stand to house press facilities. The Howzat Educational Centre and public physio facilities are also to be housed in the new South Stand, while work will also include a revamped members' pavilion and an extended Farnrise Indoor School.
It is hoped the latest phase of improvements will be completed by the end of March, while non-pitch facing elements of the two new stands are to be fitted out during the 2011 season. The first phase of the scheme included the installation of an upgraded floodlight system; a new groundsman's facility to the north of the ground and the demolition of the Gilligan Stand.
