New £60m hotel planned for London
A new £60m luxury hotel is to be built on a former bomb site in London.
Ham Yard – near Shaftesbury Avenue – was bombed during World War II and is now derelict. It was bought at auction for £30m by Tim and Kit Kemp, the husband and wife team behind Firmdale hotel group.
Firmdale already has six London hotels in its portfolio, but the Kemps are aiming to make the new 100-room hotel its flagship site.
As part of the deal, 50,000sq ft of housing will also be built.
