New qualification for aerobics
Fitness instructors in the UK will be able to train towards an advance level aerobics qualification for the first time.
The country’s first Level 3 qualification for aerobics instructors, the Certificate in Advanced Fitness Instructing, Exercise to Music, has been established on the National Qualifications Framework.
Offering a progression route to Level 3 for all those currently on Level 2, the new course aims to give aerobics instructors to design more varied and marketable studio classes, while developing their knowledge of anatomy, physiology and cardiovascular and resistance training systems.
Jean-Ann Marnoch, executive director of Central YMCA Qualifications, which developed the course, said: “This is a significant development for the fitness industry and those which participate in studio classes.
Focus Training will be among the first training providers to offer the new qualification.
“This qualification will enable experienced aerobics instructors to further develop their skills and in turn the fitness classes they offer.”
