New features for Thornton country park

Wyre Borough Council (WBC) has commenced work on a new play area for Wyre Estuary Country Park in Thornton, Lancashire.
Part of the park will be cleared before Christmas in order to make way for new swinging, climbing and balancing equipment. Due to open in spring, the new play area will incorporate natural materials such as timber and bark in a bid to complement the woodland surroundings.
WBC has received £90,000 from the Forestry Commission towards the scheme.
