New facilities for Welsh heritage attraction
Welsh minister for housing, regeneration and heritage Huw Lewis will help celebrate the reopening of a new-look visitor centre at Strata Florida Abbey near Pontrhydfendigaid.
The Cadw-managed property has benefited from £400,000 worth of improvements, which have been funded through the Assembly-backed Welsh Cultural Heritage Initiative. Cadw's Heritage Tourism Project - backed by the European Regional Development Fund - has also part-funded the scheme, which aims to help establish a "high-quality" attraction.
Strata Florida Abbey comprises the ruins of a Cistercian Monastery founded in 1164. It also has a close association with the medieval Welsh Princes of Deheubarth.
