New Odeon cinema to open in Farnham
Odeon Cinemas and developer Crest Nicholson have reached a deal for a new six-screen venue in Farnham, Surrey, which will form part of the town's East Street scheme.
The 750-seat cinema will be developed alongside restaurants, shops and residential units as part of the project, which has been delayed as a result of the economic downturn. It follows Waverley Borough Council's (WBC) executive decision to recommend that its full council to approve a one-year extension for Crest Nicholson to carry out the development.
Adam Taylor-Smith, WBC's councillor responsible for planning and the East Street Development, said: "We are moving to being in a position where the scheme can progress once the wider UK economy recovers. "It shows that, like Waverley, Odeon is fully confident that the East Street development will continue to make progress and deliver the scheme of new shops, restaurants and apartments."
