New Bridgwater pool moves nearer

Plans for a a new swimming pool in Bridgwater, Somerset, have taken a step forward after a funding agreement was reached between Sedgemoor District Council (SDC) and Somerset County Council.
Bridging finance has been agreed between the two authorities to ensure that funding is in place for the scheme, which forms a part of the Building Schools for the Future initiative. The proposed 4,917sq m (52,926sq ft) facility will incorporate a 25m, six-lane swimming pool and learner pool, spectator seating for 150 people, a 50-station fitness suite, a dance studio and a café.
An SDC spokesperson said: "A Task and Finish Group will be set up, with terms of reference and timescales, and will look at details such as design, community group usage, management arrangements etc."
