Multi-million pound leisure boost for Louth
Work on an £11m leisure centre and a £1.97m sports pavilion in Louth, Lincolnshire, will begin in March next year.
The leisure centre – designed by Wm Saunders architects – will boast a 25m, eight-lane swimming pool with a moveable floor, a sports hall, a fitness suite, a dance studio and a café area, as well as other multi-use rooms.
The sports pavilion will replace outdated facilities at Louth’s London Road Sports Ground.
The building contract for the two projects has been given to local construction firm Linpave, which was one of two companies asked to submit proposals to East Lindsey District Council following the tendering process.
The council’s portfolio holder for leisure, Adam Grist, said: “A great deal of consultation has taken place to ensure we establish facilities in Louth that support our efforts for a healthier community.
“It is important that we now work closely with the builders and architects to deliver a first class sporting and community resource.”
The council-funded scheme is scheduled to be completed by summer 2008. Details: www.e-lindsey.gov.uk
