Greece’s €90m Miraggio Thermal Spa set to open this week
The Miraggio Thermal Spa Resortis set to open this Friday (27 May) on the southwest coast of Kassandra, Halkidiki, part of a €90m (US$101m, £69m) investment.
The thermal resort features a 3,000sq m (32,291sq ft) Myrthia Thermal Spa, and there are plans for a medical wellness section to be added in 2017.
Thermal waters are key at the Miraggio, and the thermal features run across two floors and feature a large thalassotherapy pool fed directly from the sea. There are an additional four separate thermal pools with unique thermal waters of the region, as well as a thermal well-life suite with steam baths, a Finnish sauna, tepidarium, herbal sauna, cold plunge walking path and two experience showers.
The spa is using Swiss anti-ageing cellular cosmetics brand Valmont, as well as algae and sea water product house Algoane and KOS.
Owned by Med Sea Health, the resort is designed by Greek architecture firm DLP, owned by Michel De Landtsheer and Eleni Pletsa, and will feature 300 bedrooms and suites, 48 with private pools.
UK-based Howard Spa Consulting has also been involved in the concept, layout and facilities of the Myrthia Thermal Spa, which will integrate the thalasso and thermal pools with spa and wellness packages.
The beachfront resort will include a marina that can house 81 boats of up to 40m (131ft) in length, as well as a helipad, five restaurants and a Kids’ Planet featuring a football academy, astronomy, pirate ship building, kids’ radio station, pool games, pirates battle and a mini disco.
Miraggio has also partnered with Amanda Hamilton, aka “The Queen of Detox,” who has created a selection of juices and signature meals for the resort.
