Mini-golf course for Southampton park
Southampton City Council (SCC) has approved plans to move forward with the development of a new mini-golf course on the site of a former bowling green in the city's East Park.
Planning permission for the creation of the new 18-hole, landscaped facility will now be sought after the council's cabinet agreed to the proposals, which is set to cost £55,000 to build and will generate £15,000 in income a year. The scheme was approved by SCC's full council earlier this year to revitalise a neglected part of the Grade II-listed park, which is also protected common land and requires government permission for any proposed development.
