Melton museum's new gallery officially opened
After opening to the public in November 2010, the Melton Carnegie Museum's new £1m gallery has been officially unveiled.
A major building project, which has resulted in the museum - in Melton Mowbray, Leicestershire - doubling in size, saw the creation of the new gallery, a study area and community space. Under the theme of 'Changing Life in Rural Britain', the gallery features displays on local history, trades, fox hunting and rural life.
Funding for the scheme came from a £969,000 Heritage Lottery Fund award, with the remainder coming from Leicestershire County Council, Melton Borough Council and the Friends of Leicester and Leicestershire Museums. Image: Melton Carnegie Museum
