Masshouse gets further £30m injection
Regeneration minister, Tony McNulty, has announced another £30m in European funding for Birmingham City Council to continue the redevelopment of the Masshouse area.
The area is being redeveloped as a gateway to Eastside.
Councillor, Sir Albert Bore, welcomed the announcement, saying: 'It is funding the completion of the Masshouse improvements, removing the concrete collar and barrier between the City Centre and Millennium Point. It is opening up the new Eastside Quarter for learning, technology, leisure and heritage.'
Leisure Opportunities reported in August that the scheme will include a 350-room, four-star hotel, and two new public plazas with retail, bar and restaurant space as well as office and residential developments. Details: www.birmingham.gov.uk
