Leisure centre to go green

A new leisure development in Louth, Lincolnshire, is set to be powered by renewable energy sources.
East Lindsey District Council has confirmed that a number of cost-effective energy-saving measures are being incorporated into the new Wood Lane Leisure Centre. Work on the new £11m facility has already begun, and will include measures such as rainwater harvesting and automatic pool hall lighting control. A report, prepared for the council by the business manager for sports facilities, Mark Humphreys, said: "The cost of energy consumption at the new facility could equate to around £20.5m over the 30-year life of the facility. "Investment of approximately £284,000 in additional efficiency measures now would generate an estimated saving of £4.4m over this 30-year period." The new centre, which is due to be completed in Autumn 2009, is being built by Linpave Building, and will include a 25m eight-lane swmming pool, fitness suite and dance studios.A new leisure development in Louth, Lincolnshire, is set to be powered by renewable energy sources.
