Lake users to shape Windemere's future
The Lake District National Park Authority (LDNPA) has called on volunteers to sign up to an independent group that aims to ensure users get the most out of Windemere.
Four spaces have become available to prospective members of the 11-strong Windemere Lake User Forum (WLUF), which advises the park authority on the lake's management strategy. The forum comprises a variety of lake users - such as sailors, anglers and transport providers, and also works with councils to ensure a sustainable future for Windemere.
LDNPA catchment projects co-ordinator Suzy Grindley said: "It's vital we have people with experience and views on how best the lake should be managed. "The forum's remit is wide ranging and it brings strong and significant opinions to important issues such as recreation, conservation, local communities and visitors."
