Ladypace tempts pubs with gym offer
Ladypace, the chain of women-only fitness and inch-loss centres, is looking for its first pub location.
The owner of the chain, Paul Cary, said he is looking to rent 800sq ft of space in a pub, which he claims will bring in extra profits for licensees.
A former director of the Hobgoblin Pub Company, Cary believes the 30-minute workout concept will bring new customers into high street pubs, making the most of under-utilized premises.
A typical Ladypace club can expect to attract 400 members within six months, he added.
“The licensed trade has become increasingly reliant on the 3- to 4-day weekend for profit. However, there is enormous potential for the right outlets to generate considerable mid-week profit growth through better use of an under-trading room,” said Cary.
“By offering a licensee rent, as well as staffing and running the centre, we are taking all the risk. All the licensee has to do is adjust the pub’s menu and product offering to encourage the new female customers to spend money.”
There are currently five Ladypace centres in the UK, with another two due to open in Bedford and Sutton in September, and another in Shrewsbury later this year. Details:www.ladypace.co.uk
