Karen Jones returns to pub industry

Karen Jones, the former chief executive of Spirit Group, has returned to the pub industry.
Jones has reportedly teamed up with former Spirit colleagues Jo Cumming and Peter Myers and her Café Rouge co-founder Roger Myers, to form a new company called Food & Fuel.
The foursome has bought the leases of five London-based ex-Spirit pubs with plans to turn them into gastro pubs.
The pubs are understood to be the Lots Road Pub & Dining Room, Chelsea; The Prince Regent, Kensington; The Queens, Crouch End; the Dusk, Marylebone and the Birdcage in Chiswick.
The Times reported that Jones expects to acquire another two or three similar pubs over the next 12 months.
Jones, who was awarded a CBE in the Queen’s Birthday Honours list recently, oversaw the sale of Spirit Group to Punch Taverns for £2.7bn.
