IoW skatepark receives £25k upgrade
A special event has been held to mark the relaunch of an Isle of Wight (IoW) skatepark, which has undergone a £25,000 scheme to enhance the facility.
West Wight Skate Park users were consulted on the plans before work started on the 18-month project, which included the installation of new night-vision CCTV to improve safety. The scheme was undertaken by the West Wight Skate Park Committee in conjunction with Freshwater and Totland Parish Councils, the Isle of Wight Council and the Isle of Wight Community Safety Partnership.
Existing ramps have been reconfigured and a new half-pipe, grind rail and 'coffin' box installed as part of the project, which are designed to cater for skaters of all ages and abilities.
