IOC member Marc Hodler dies
International Olympic Committee (IOC) member Marc Hodler died this morning in hospital in Bern, Germany, following a stroke three days ago.
An IOC member since 1963, his achievements included being chair of the IOC Co-ordination Commissions for the Olympic Winter Games of Albertville in 1992, Lillehammer in 1994, Nagano in 1998 and Salt Lake City in 2002.
Hodler was also an IOC vice-president from 1993 to 1997 and served four terms on the IOC Executive Board, alongside being a member of a number of other IOC commissions.
IOC President Jacques Rogge said: “The IOC expresses its sadness at the passing of a member who dedicated so much to the Olympic movement. Our thoughts and prayers are with Mr Hodler’s family.”
