Hilton to open 800 new restaurants
Hilton Worldwide plans to roll out 800 new restaurants in the next three years.
The group has reinvented the dining model at DoubleTree by Hilton and Embassy Suites brands and is introducing three new concepts - Herb n' Kitchen, Made Market and Brickstones Grill - to debut in the US next year.
The transition to casual dining came in response to a recent Mintel survey, which found that sales at quick service restaurants have increased to nearly $30bn in the past five years.
Beth Scott, vice president of food and beverage concepts of Hilton Worldwide, said the trend is being echoed throughout its hotels as guests spend less time in fine dining restaurants, opting for quick and convenient items instead.
Beth Scott said: "We surveyed 22,000 guests, owners and operators and we learned that the way people eat at home is translating into the way they eat on the road.
"As a result, we decided to reinvent the hotel dining model to better serve the needs, wants and lifestyle of our customers."
The Herb n' Kitchen concept will offer gourmet food items in a space that gives guests a transparent view of the kitchen.
The second concept, Made Market, was created for DoubleTree by Hilton and is an all-day eatery with a gastropub concept that centres on a brick oven.
Brickstones Grill will feature American dishes created using a brick pizza ovens, open pit grills and rotisseries.
