Fitness4less opens in Southwark
Budget health club operator Fitness4less has opened a new 20,000sq ft club in Southwark, London.
The operator took over an existing club and invested £1m in refurbishing the site. Work during the 12-week project included the restoration of original railway arch brickwork, undertaken in partnership with Network Rail.
The 10,000sq ft gym area, which sits in the arches under the railway line, has been kitted out with a £125,000 selection of Precor equipment, including 32 treadmills, 14 crosstrainers, seven upright and three recumbent bikes.
The gym area has been divided so that each of the arches houses a separate function - such as a spinning zone, resistance area and a free weights section.
Other facilities include a 2,000sq ft studio room and the club's signature feature - a 2,600sq ft nightclub-style "Power Zone" - a dark room with neon lights, a large projector screen playing loud music videos and CV equipment to work out on.
The opening of the Southwark club is the first London launch for the operator, which also has sites in Bristol, Birmingham, Watford, Newport, Cambridge Heath and Nottingham. The company is planning to open a further two in the UK over the next year.
Jez Whitling, UK Sales Director for Precor comments:"Fitness4less is building on the outstanding success of its current clubs and offers affordable yet high quality facilities that are great value for money. Precor is dedicated to supporting affordable gyms as they provide an excellent alternative for busy, money conscious gym goers."
