Fest ‘n’ Furious returns to Dundee
Fest'n'Furious, Dundee’s traditional music festival, is back from 28 September – 1 October with an exhilarating mix of the music and song of Scotland with some Irish, English and the odd bit of Americana thrown in for extra flavour!
There's live music from the Red Hot Chilli Pipers & the young stars of the TMSA Young Trad Tour. The Peatbog Faeries return with their killer take on Scottish music. There's stunning bluegrass from the Hunger Mountain Boys and The Earl Brothers, and for the more classically-minded, Rob MacKillop will perform an eclectic programme of lute and guitar music.
The festival is also proud to be hosting Catriona McKay's return to her home city with electro-acoustic legend Alistair Macdonald: they'll be closing Fest 'n' Furious with a set of improvised harp and live electronics at the DCA.
There are plenty of other ways to get involved in the festival, with workshops from some of the finest musicians in Scotland including: Iain Fraser (fiddle), Ailie Roberston (Clarsach), Rob MacKillop (guitar), The Red Hot Chilli Pipers (pipes & drums) and Shona Donaldson (bothy ballads). The PRS & Musicians Union are holding a roadshow event for musicians of all genres, offering help and advice on a range of professional issues. There will also be a Burnsong songwriting workshop.
And there's more coming all the time: check out the website www.festnfurious.co.uk for updated details and to order a programme
