Fairmont revamps Mexico sites
Major renovation programs at both of Fairmont Hotels and Resort's properties in Acapulco, Mexico are nearing completion.
The Fairmont Pierre Marques has undergone a three-year, $30m refurbishment programme, and will re-open this month. The 355-room hotel, themed to resemble a traditional Mexican hacienda, has a new tree-lined drive and fountains plus a redesigned lobby.
Tabachin, the resort's restaurant, has been renovated to include a new outdoor patio and a new bar and lounge has opened. Fairmont also has plans to redesign the hotel's golf course and build a new clubhouse in 2003.
The Pierre Marques' sister resort, the 1,017-room Fairmont Acapulco Princess, will open a $3m spa this spring as part of a $14m renovation programme throughout the site.
The 14,000sq ft Willow Stream Spa, modelled after a Mayan-style thatched house, will include single and double treatment rooms, a beauty salon, sauna, steam room and spa bath.
Other new facilities that have recently opened at the Acapulco Princess include Atlantes, a 4,000sq ft fitness facility, Yuca, a new live salsa club and a 6,000-seat tennis stadium.
