Dogs banned from Nottinghamshire parks
Newark and Sherwood District Council (NSDC) has introduced new control orders designed to prevent dog owners taking their pets into parks and open spaces.
The dog control orders (DCOs) came into effect on 7 April under the Clean Neighbourhoods and Environment Act 2005, which includes more than 70 designated sites across the area. NSDC's animal welfare officers, park rangers and police community support officers will have the power to issue on-the-spot penalties of £75 to anyone caught breaching the orders.
A council spokesperson said: "The new orders will enable the council to exercise more controls over dog fouling and on owners who allow their dogs to get out of control."
