Disney obtains US$15m permit for new ride
Walt Disney World Florida has obtained a US$15.4m building permit for its planned US$100m ‘Under the Sea: Journey of the Little Mermaid’ ride.
The plans are part of the park’s Fantasyland expansion - which will see Ariel’s Grotto, Scuttle’s Landing snack location and Pooh’s Playful Spot close - due to open in 2013.
The expansion is the biggest in the park’s history and will also include attractions and rides based on Beauty and the Beast, Cinderella, Sleeping Beauty and Dumbo.
The Under the Sea ride will also open at Disney’s California Adventure in Anaheim in 2011.
