Council to consult on £20m leisure plans
Northumberland County Council (NCC) is to hold a full consultation to gather feedback on plans for a £20m investment in leisure and community facilities for Ashington residents.
Proposals currently being considered by the local authority include the refurbishment of the current facility; a new-build on the existing site; and a new-build at Ashington High School. A new-build on a number of other sites is also being proposed by NCC, which is aiming to provide a swimming pool; health and fitness facilities; and s multi-purpose sports hall.
NCC executive member for customer relations and culture Neil Bradbury said: "We are moving forward with consulting local people and organisations on how we should choose a site for the facility."
