Council reopens flood-damaged country park
Rotherham Metropolitan Borough Council (RMBC) has officially reopened Ulley Country Park near Aughton, South Yorkshire, three years after floods forced its closure.
Engineering works have been carried out to restore the park's dam, which has enabled water levels in Ulley Reservoir to return to a safe height and allow the council to restore public access to the area. Ulley Country Park has also benefited from a "wash and brush-up", which has seen maintenance work carried out at parts of the park used since the £3.5m rehabilitation scheme commenced.
A RMBC spokesperson said: "We are grateful for the patience that everyone has shown over the past three years and we are now looking forward to a great day when we can celebrate the park opening to the public once again."
