A public exhibition has been held in St Austell, Cornwall, to allow local residents to comment on plans for the Mid-Cornwall Clay Country eco-town development.

Town builder Orascom Developments, along with Imerys Minerals and the Eden Project, is behind proposals for the creation of sustainable communities on six former china clay sites owned by Imerys. More than 5,000 homes, leisure facilities and green space are included as part of the development, with pilot phase and phase one plans at West Carclase/Baal and Par Docks put on show at the end of March.

The Mid-Cornwall Clay Country eco-town scheme was one of four UK developments to receive eco-town status from the government earlier this year. Other sites set to benefit from redevelopment include Blackpool pit and dryers; Nanpean and Drinnick and Goonbarrow Refinery.
