Carluccio’s, the Italian restaurant chain, has seen its turnover rise by 18 per cent to £54m and a 66 per cent leap in profit to £5.3m.
The figures were announced in the group’s preliminary results for the year ending 23 December, a period which saw the that company open six new restaurants and sign a franchise agreement that covers the whole of Ireland.
Stephen Gee, executive chair, said: “I am delighted to report a sixth year of uninterrupted, double digit growth in turnover, operating profit and earnings per share.
“We now have 34 stores trading successfully and have extended the geographical scope of our brand with two openings in Manchester and one in Stratford-upon-Avon.
“In addition, I’m very pleased to announce the signing of a franchise and development agreement in Ireland, which will extend the Carluccio’s brand to a new market.”
The company will open sites in St Pancras, Heathrow Terminal 5 and Cambridge next year, and in Leicester and Bristol in 2009.
