CYQ completes term as FIA Code of Practice verifier
Health and fitness awarding body CYQ has come to the end of its three year run as the _official verifier of the Code of Practice for fitness clubs and leisure centres in the UK.
Working on behalf of the Fitness Industry Association (FIA), CYQ was appointed to the role in April 2007. _During this time, its has assessed 97 clubs, gyms and leisure centres across the UK, _representing over 400 sites in total.
The Code was established to ensure operators in the health and fitness sector maintain a benchmark level _of practice and service, guaranteeing the safety and wellbeing of their customers.
CYQ has been closely involved with the development of the Code, providing support and advice to the FIA, _and has developed processes of working, including running a successful pilot scheme.
In gaining an extensive understanding of the principles and concept behind the code's criteria, CYQ developed _both the current Code of Practice methodology and improved the comprehensiveness and objectivity of the _assessment criteria for the FLAME awards. CYQ is also the official verifier for the European Health and Fitness Association (EHFA), and the accreditation unit for the newly formed Register of _Exercise Professionals in Ireland (REPs, Ireland).
