Belle Corp to partner casino firm in entertainments project?
Philippines-based Belle Corporation is to involve a Macau-based gaming firm as partner for its planned US$1bn (£642.3m) entertainment complex to be built along a reclaimed portion of Manila Bay.
Alfredo Benitez of Negros Occidental, majority owner of Leisure & Resorts World Corporation (LRWC), is reported in local media as saying they are in discussions with a Macau-based casino operator to build the country's largest casino complex and expect to conclude a deal before the end of the year. LRWC is the local partner for the gaming component of Belle's multibillion-peso integrated resort project.
Benitez declined to identify the casino firm, saying an announcement would be made as soon as the negotiations are completed. Under the plan, the resort will feature hotels, condotels, serviced apartments, swimming pools, a spa, shops, restaurants, theatres, indoor and outdoor theme parks and meeting facilities.
Belle's casino complex, estimated to cost around US$350m (£225m), is scheduled to open in Q3 2011 and will feature 1,500 slot machines and 250 tables. It will be developed in three phases over a five-year period. The first phase will comprise the casino with around 100 VIP suites and two 15-storey hotel towers of 500 rooms.
