£1m Leisure Centre revamp complete
Work on the massive £1 million refurbishment of Rainbow Leisure Centre in Epsom and Ewell is now complete.
The nine-month project has seen the complete overhaul of the leisure centre's gym area including the installation of over 140 pieces of the most modern Technogym equipment. One of the highlights is the introduction of the latest innovation in fitness technology - Kenesis resistance kit, which is designed to activate kinetic chains, not just individual muscles.
Kenesis allows users to move tri-dimensionally whilst providing resistance to every possible movement of the human body.
Another key feature of the leisure centre is the launch of a new spa facility -
Spa LONDON. Open to leisure centre members and non-members alike, the spa comprises four treatment rooms, a relaxation area and steam room, hamman seating and a monsoon shower. It will offer more than 50 therapies from renowned beauty house Elemis.
Following refurbishment there is also a new dedicated aerobiking zone, calm studio for classes such as Pilates, Yoga and Tai chi and an Easyline area. Changing rooms throughout the centre have been updated with new lockers, benches and shower cubicles.
The revamp was funded by GLL, the charitable social enterprise that operates Rainbow Leisure Centre on behalf of Epsom and Ewell Council.
Commenting on the leisure centre revamp, David Hughes GLL Partnership Manager said, "Early this year Rainbow was voted Britain's premier leisure centre at the industry's prestigious FLAME awards. The subsequent, comprehensive refurbishment programme means Rainbow will now be even better, offering some of the best, most innovative leisure and fitness facilities in the UK. However, we remain proud of our place at the heart of the local community and will continue to offer a wide range of activities suitable for all members of the family."
Councillor Jan Mason, Chairman of Epsom & Ewell Council's Leisure Committee added: "Epsom & Ewell Borough Council is committed to helping our residents live healthy and active lives.
"The recent refurbishment at the Rainbow Leisure Centre offers fantastic facilities and we hope that the centre will become even more popular with local people."
