Trust secures new Hertsmere leisure contract

Hertsmere Borough Council (HBC) has renewed its management contract with Hertsmere Leisure, which will see the trust operate sports and cultural facilities for a further 10 years.
Due to commence on 1 February 2012, the agreement includes the operation of The Venue; Bushey Grove Leisure Centre; and Potters Bar's Wyllyotts Theatre going forward.
Hertsmere Leisure will undertake a series of improvements during the term of the contract, which includes a refurbishment of the Beaumonts Fitness Studio at the Furzefield Centre.
New Star Trac equipment and FitLinxx technology will be installed at the facility, which is now closed until early January in order to allow work to be carried out.
Meanwhile, gyms at the Beaumonts Health Club at Bushey Grove Leisure Centre and The Venue will also receive FitLinxx software during 2012 among other improvements.
HBC portfolio holder for leisure, culture and health Brenda Batten said: "The plans for these venues are very exciting and I look forward to seeing them all develop."
