Revamp planned for Melton Mowbray centre

Melton Borough Council (MBC) has appointed Everyone Active to undertake an extensive refurbishment of Waterfield Leisure Centre in Melton Mowbray, Leicestershire.
Everyone Active - the trading brand of Sports and Leisure Management (SLM) - will also take over the management of the new facilities following the completion of the scheme. First opened in 1965, Waterfield Leisure Centre will benefit from new changing spaces and an upgraded fitness suite.
An existing fitness area will be converted for use by disability groups and exercise areas are to be provided for classes targeting 11-to-16-year-olds and school sessions. David Wright, chair of MBC's community and social affairs committee, said: "We feel strongly that Melton needs to have high-quality swimming and indoor sports facilities.
"This is far from just a lick of paint, we are talking about brand new facilities here, that we will be securing for at least the next ten years and you won't be able to recognise it once it is finished."
