Management company Parkwood Leisure has secured a new contract to operate six leisure centres owned by Vale of Glamorgan council.
As part of the deal, Parkwood and the council will invest a combined £3m worth of capital in improving the centres - Barry, Penarth, Cowbridge, Holm View, Llantwit Major and Colcot Sports Centre.
The work will provide enhanced facilities and will take place over the next seven to 10 months, which include mechanical and electrical components, as well as a revamp of changing facilities and gyms at Penarth, Barry and Llantwit.
Parkwood Leisure finance director Giles Rawlinson said: "The partnership secures the long-term stability and future of the centres, ensuring that local provision for leisure and activity remains available for the communities within the Vale of Glamorgan."
It is Parkwood's second contract in Wales, with the company having managed Cardiff International Pool since January 2008.
