2010 Delhi Commonwealth Games venues inaugurated
The Delhi University Stadium rugby venue and the Shyama Prasad Mukherjee Complex swimming venue, both to be used in the 2010 Commonwealth Games in India, have been inaugurated.
The 10,000sq m (107,640sq ft) rugby sevens stadium boasts 2,500 permanent seats and 7,500 temporary seats. Construction began in 2008.
The swimming venue was originally built in 1982 for the Asian Games, but has just been given a Rs 277 crore (£38.3m, US$58.5m, 45.3m euro) overhaul.
The 5,000-seat complex is now the largest covered aquatic stadium in the country, featuring Olympic-sized swimming and diving pools with a six-lane warm-up pool.
