Wattbike strengthens partnership with England Rugby
Wattbike has added England hooker Tom Youngs and 2014 Rugby World Cup winner Tamara Taylor as ambassadors this year. The indoor bike manufacturer recently held an event at the Institute of Sport, Exercise and Health in London in which the pair, along with the RFU’s athletic performance manager Scott Drawer, discussed how Wattbike helped maximise fitness for elite rugby players.
“I’m still working full time whilst trying to train and compete at the highest level, so the Wattbike provides me with 100 per cent accuracy and an effective workout even when I’m time poor,” said Taylor, captain of the England women’s rugby team. “I can make sure I’m in the right training zones and be confident that I’m making progress thanks to the measurability of the bike.”
Youngs, who is preparing for World Cup selection, said Wattbike was a key part of his training kit. “The bike has really improved my power output, a key factor in rugby,” he said. “The whole [England] team will be using them in the warm ups and recovery sessions.”
As part of an ongoing agreement, England Rugby will take delivery of a total of 30 bikes across a three year period.
