Olympic champion Dani King has helped launch Matrix Fitness’ newest indoor cycle in the UK market.

The company’s ‘IC7’ bike features indoor cycling’s first two-stage drivetrain and is powered by ICG technology.

King, who won the team pursuit event at the London 2012 Olympics alongside Joanna Rowsell and another Matrix Fitness rider Laura Trott, was on hand at the Leisure Industry Week exhibition at Birmingham’s NEC to introduce the bike. She said it was the “most relevant, smoothest, static bike” she had ever trained on, while it allowed her to work the same muscles as she would on the track as the indoor cycle is set in the same position.

Matrix says the IC7 features the market’s most accurate (+/-1 per cent) direct power metre, 100-step precision magnetic resistance, and 1:11 ratio high-speed flywheel. The company also launched its ‘Coach by Color’ programme, in which the bike’s performance metrics are delivered to the rider via a patent-pending training console, which displays the user’s effort and power in various coloured zones.

The IC7 is suitable for use by cycling and fitness enthusiasts of all abilities, and world record holder King led a ‘Train Like a Pro’ session to demonstrate the bike at Leisure Industry Week.
