press release: Taylor Made Designs
TMD Group acquires Wessex Custom Clothing, expanding its multi-brand capability across key sectors
The TMD Group (formerly Taylor Made Designs) has announced its acquisition of Wessex Custom Clothing, a Southampton-based supplier of branded apparel with 17 years’ experience servicing clients across the South Coast.
The addition strengthens the TMD Group’s position as a leading provider of custom-branded merchandise and workwear solutions across a number of sectors including Leisure, Attractions, Hospitality, Holiday Parks, Marine, Cruise and Yachting.
The acquisition brings the Group’s portfolio to three specialist brands: Taylor Made Designs (TMD), Blu Leisure and now Wessex Custom Clothing, each offering distinct capabilities, and tailored services that meet a diverse range of client needs.
As TMD Group celebrates more than 30 years of supplying premium uniform and merchandise to businesses across the UK, EU and beyond, the move marks a strategic step in the Group’s intent to continue to support both its expanding corporate accounts and growing new customer base.
James Taylor, Managing Director and Founder of TMD Group, says: “Bringing Wessex Custom Clothing into the TMD Group allows us to strengthen the way we support both existing and new clients.
“As demand continues to grow across the sectors we serve, this acquisition gives us the ability to deliver even more agile, tailored and high-impact solutions.
“With Wessex focusing on smaller enquiries and continuing to serve the vibrant Southampton market, TMD and Blu Leisure can continue to focus on their managed corporate account service. Together, our three brands create a broader, more capable and more responsive Group offering, one that benefits our customers, our teams and our future growth.”
Wessex Custom Clothing will retain its Southampton base and continue operating with the same service-led approach that has shaped its reputation over the past 17 years.
Dan Wessex, Founder of Wessex Custom Clothing, exits the business as part of the acquisition and says: “After nearly two decades building Wessex, it was incredibly important to me that the brand, the team and the legacy we’ve created were placed in the right hands.
“Joining the TMD Group means Wessex can continue to grow, evolve and serve its customers with the same values while benefiting from the support of an established, respected industry leader.
I’m confident the business and the fantastic team who helped shape it, are in safe hands, and I’m excited to see the opportunities this next chapter will bring.”
The acquisition is effective immediately, with all existing Wessex employees retained as part of the transition.
