Youth gym opens in Wellington
Leisure trust Tone Leisure has launched a health club for children in Wellington, Somerset.
The £200,000 Z3 Fitness Zone at Wellington Sports Centre has been partly funded by The Big Lottery Fund's Young People's Fund Programme and is designed to cater for children aged between 10 and 16.
Equipment at the club, supplied by ZigZag, include Xer-Dance Mats, a Sportwall - which tests reflexes and provides a cardiovascular workout - and Nintendo Wii games.
Joel Chapman, Tone Leisure's commercial director, said: "Our remit when working with local authorities is to improve public experiences of sports and leisure facilities and by working with the young people's committee we've made sure that Z3 will be enjoyed by the very people it's intended for.
"With the help of The Big Lottery Fund we're delighted to be able to provide local young people with a safe, welcoming place to meet their friends. Rather than sitting at home on the sofa playing console games they can come to Z3, still play those types of games and some new ones, and get active at the same time."
