Tourism Ireland launches German campaign
Tourism Ireland has launched a new social media marketing campaign - Mission Ireland - in a bid to drive up the number of inbound visitors from Germany.
The German market is currently Ireland's third-largest market and the latest campaign has got underway with German blogger Kai Müller embarking on a month-long trip around the country. Müller will create a travel blog about his experiences on a specially-created website, while also using social media platforms such as Facebook, Twitter and Flickr.
Using 'crowd-sourcing' as part of the campaign, Müller's destinations will be chosen by followers of his Irish journey who will vote for him to complete missions or challenges. An extensive advertising and PR campaign is also planned by Tourism Ireland in Germany to coincide with the launch of Mission Ireland and raise awareness of the country.
Barbara Wood from Tourism Ireland Germany said: "This campaign is the first of its kind for us and should prove to be a really effective way of engaging with online communities in Germany."
