Saltley LC launches fitness facility
A new, 175sq m (2,150sq ft) health and fitness facility has just opened at Saltley Leisure Centre, in the Bordesley Green area of Birmingham, as part of a £2m refurbishment project.
The council-owned centre – a dual-use site that also provides sporting facilities for Saltley Secondary School – had no health and fitness provision prior to the investment, in spite of being in existence for over 30 years.
Funds were raised by a grant from the Football Foundation, along with investment from Birmingham City Council and other benefactors.
Equipment in the fitness centre was supplied by Technogym, with a state-of-the-art AV set-up from AB Audio Visual.
The leisure centre also has a sports hall, social function room, seven grass football pitches and one floodlit, third generation all-weather pitch.
