Revamped leisure offering for Wiltshire
North Wiltshire District Council is refurbishing all four of its leisure centres.
The £750,000 investment will upgrade The Olympiad, Lime Kiln and Springfield Leisure Centres, as well as The Activity Zone, managed by DC Leisure in partnership with the council.
Springfield Leisure Centre in Corsham and Lime Kiln Leisure Centre in Wootton Bassett will both feature new gym extensions, complete with new equipment, to be completed in 2008.
The Olympiad Leisure Centre in Chippenham has benefited from an updated gym featuring cardiovascular equipment from Precor and 21 new Keiser bikes in the Spinning area, a new wet-side changing village with new showers, toilets, lockers and cubicles, and a revamped reception area featuring a relaxation area overlooking the swimming pool.
The gym facility at The Activity Zone in Malmesbury has also been fitted with new Spinning bikes from Keiser and an upgraded reception and studio.
All four facilities are being re-branded as Kinetika by DC Leisure, which took over the management of the sites in February this year, following news that the operator, North Wiltshire Leisure, was going into administration.
Cllr Viv Vines said: “We are committed to providing an improved leisure service to our customers and are working in close partnership with DC Leisure to ensure this happens.
“Our customers will be able to see for themselves the benefits of the considerable investment that we are making in facilities and the surroundings in each of the four centres.”
