RGA faces king-sized task
A new hotel being built on the site of a former palace in Portugal is the latest subject of research for RGA Consulting.
Hotéis Real, the luxury Portuguese hotel group, is expanding its portfolio and has under construction a new luxury hotel at Cascais, on the coast, a 30 minute drive from Lisbon.
Incorporating a former residence of King Umberto II of Italy, the new five-star hotel will offer much more than luxury rooms in an idyllic situation. Seawater swimming pools, a health club, a marine spa, with a ‘Scottish shower’ – cold water only – are all part of the mix.
Cascais, in a recent article in The Times was referred to as Portugal’s answer to Cannes. In the 19th century the fishing village, that is at the heart of the town, was fairly run down, but when in 1870 King Luis 1 of Portugal made it his summer residence, many other aristocrats followed.
Cascais is a mix of mansions, pastel-coloured cottages, Roman and Moorish architecture and some very up-market new developments. Its position on the sea with beautiful beaches and an expanding marina enhances its appeal.
RGA is working with its associate company VAL in Lisbon to deliver technical expertise and analysis to the group. A market assessment will provide research and recommendations for positioning, pricing and performance.
