Old Course Hotel set to unveil Kohler Waters Spa
The Old Course Hotel, Golf Resort and Spa at St Andrews in Scotland will unveil its new Kohler Waters Spa in January.
Designed by Corporate Edge, the 13,600sq ft (1,265sq m) spa will feature 11 treatment rooms, including two with bathing units, one with a vichy shower and two with Kohler showers.
There will also be a thermal suite with a hydrotherapy pool, plunge pool, Japanese salt steamroom and a sauna with light therapy; a 20m indoor swimming pool with an 8ft waterfall and crystal steamrooms in the changing rooms.
An exercise studio will feature Precor cardio equipment while a rooftop deck will include relaxation space, an open-air pole shower and a whirlpool for eight people.
The spa’s signature treatment will by Cooler Near the Sea, which involves alternating hot and cold temperatures to assist circulatory flow and improve internal cleansing and movement of nutrients throughout the body.
Products used in treatments will include Thalgo, Kohler Waters Spa’s signature lines Heather and Waters and John Michael Kohler for him.
Memberships will be available from April next year.
Kohler acquired the 178-room Old Course Hotel in October 2004 for £37m. Since then, its investment programme has included redesigning 17 of the hotel’s 32 suites as well as refurbishing and extending the existing spa.
The company, which was founded in 1873 as a kitchen and bathroom products manufacturer, also operates a resort in the village of Kohler, Wisconsin, USA, including the AAA Five Diamond American Club hotel, the Whistling Straits and Blackwolf Run golf courses and the Kohler Waters Spa.
