The Fitness First gym chain has joined forces with Nintendo Wii to launch a new product line for the games console.

The privately-owned gym chain has joined forces with Black Bean Games to launch the new product line.

First to be released will be NewU InsideIOut, which will combine fitness and exercise content from Fitness First and nutrition, courtesy of the television programme and book publisher You Are What You Eat.

A full-body workout is being designed by Fitness First with each exercise being demonstrated by one of the group's Personal Trainers. Both the Wii Balance Board and Wii Remote will be used to provide feedback on user’s progress and performance.

As part of the products' development, six Fitness First personal trainers have been filmed demonstrating exercises as the designers opted for real life instruction rather than using 3D graphics.

Commenting on the launch, Fitness First managing director John Gamble said: "Our mission is to make the world a fitter place and NewU takes us a step closer in achieving this. We hope this product will not only complement what members find when they come to a Fitness First, but also encourage the 'new to exercise' person to take the next step and join a gym.’’

Fitness First is a member of the Fitness Industry Association (FIA). There are more than 540 Fitness First clubs worldwide, equaling more than 1.4 million members in 19 countries. In the UK alone, there are 170 Fitness First clubs with more than 425,000 members.
