The gym development project at Southfields Community College in Wandsworth, London, is almost complete.
The £500,000 revamped sports facilities will include a new fitness suite, dance area and PE classroom.
Life Fitness has supplied four 95Ti treadmills, three 95Ci lifecycles, three 95Xi cross-trainers, six pieces of strength equipment from the Signature series, a dual adjustable pulley and a VIVO system.
The fitness suite will be available to the general public as well as the college’s 1,350 pupils.
David Holt, director of sport at Southfields, said: “The information provided by VIVO will enable crossover links with PE and other curriculum areas, such as maths and ICT. In these subject areas students will be able to access and manipulate personal data about themselves which they will have generated through working in the Fitness Suite in their PE lessons. We anticipate they will find this more interesting, relevant and motivating than simply using fictitious examples, and hopefully in turn this will have an impact on raising levels of attainment across the college.”
Earlier this year, the college also added a new four-badminton court sports hall, a 7m external climbing wall and a 20m swimming pool.
